Being away from your family for periods of time can be very difficult for you but also tough for your family. Missing birthdays, anniversaries, weekends and holidays can put strains on you and your family.

There is no magic formula for improving family life. The key strategies for successful family relationships are sensitivity, communication, and time management.

Here are a few ideas to think about and act on:

·
Talk about your needs.
· Find ways to spend time with each member of your family when you have your days off.
· If your family life is unhappy or in turmoil avoid the use of drugs to help you cope.
· Protect your family life, and it will protect you.
